CAES, a mission critical technology provider, is developing a precision strike sensor core to support the advancement of the US Army’s long-range precision fires. 

The development of this precision strike sensor core, which is a programmable transceiver, is a key modernisation priority for the US Army. 

It is being developed to support the assured positioning, navigation, and timing capabilities. 

CAES said that the development of this programmable transceiver will also mark a key step towards the US Army’s Long Range Precision Fires initiative, which is essential for first strike success. 

Besides, the Precision Strike Sensor Core is designed to facilitate both radio frequency guidance and control along with the in-flight data link communications.  

CAES said that it has secured the latest award after securing multiple development contracts by the US Army Combat Capabilities Development Command Aviation & Missile Center to support the advancement of this technology.

The team from CAES working on the Precision Strike Sensor Core development also includes contributions from some other significant partners, including US Army DEVCOM Armament Center in Picatinny Arsenal, New Jersey.  

Partners such as Oklahoma State University as well as EngeniusMicro in Huntsville, Alabama, are providing modelling, simulation, and uncrewed aerial system (UAS) support.  

Meanwhile, Berry Aviation will be responsible for supporting concept development, and the new Fires Innovation Science and Technology Accelerator in Lawton, Oklahoma, will also play a key role in the advancement of this critical technology.

“We are excited to collaborate with our partners to support the Army as it develops new technologies to address the demands of future missions.” 

In January 2023, CAES secured a $24m contract from Northrop Grumman to deliver a total of 80,000 M-Code global positioning system antennas over a period of three years to support the production of the US Army’s precision guidance kits.
